Circulation Services

The Library provides useful resources to support the curriculum of all programmes offered in the College. All staff and students are eligible to borrow library materials in person. Circulation services include borrowing, returns, renewals and requests are available at the Circulation Counter. The circulation services will be terminated 15 minutes before closing of the Library.

Borrowing

  • A Library user is eligible to borrow Library materials with his or her valid College Identity Card.
  • All Library materials must be checked out at the Circulation Counter properly.
  • There may be disciplinary action against students who take out materials from the Library without proper checkout or authorization, any kinds of excuses will not be accepted.

Returning

  • All borrowed materials shall be returned on or before the due date.
  • Fines will be counted from the first overdue date.

Renewal

  • Renewal can only be made on or before due date (excluding requested item[s]).
  • Users can make renewal onlinein personvia email , or by phone.
  • Renewal cannot be made if the item is requested by others.

Book requests

  • Users can request loaned items via the Library online catalogue.
  • An email notice will be sent to alert the user when the item is ready to be picked up at the Circulation Counter.
  • Requested items must be picked up within 3 days from the date of notice (excluding Saturdays, Sundays, & Public Holidays), or else the request will be cancelled.
  • Book requests can only be made on the loaned item.

Charge for loss and damage

  • Loss or damage of loan items should be reported to the Circulation Counter as soon as possible.
  • A charge for lost/damaged Library materials will be imposed. Charges will depend on the situation.
  • The charge is calculated based on the replacement cost of the damaged/lost item plus a processing fee of $60.
  • All lost and damaged items remain the property of the Library. All sums paid are non-refundable.

Assumed lost

An overdue item that accrues the maximum fine is assumed lost. The borrower will be billed accordingly and his/her borrowing privileges will be suspended. The charge is calculated based on the replacement cost of the lost item, a processing fee of $60, and the maximum overdue fine. All assumed lost items remain the property of the Library.

Reserve collection

As requested by academic staff, the Library may put books or other materials in Reserve Collection for two-hour or four-hour loan. The collection is placed at the counter. Students are not encouraged to take away reserve materials from the Library.
